Adler was taken from Irene Adler, a character from Sherlock Holmes saga. Was inspired by how she’s supposedly American in OG SH saga but is turned British in adaptations, and I decided to make Nanaca half-American, so here we go.
Nanaca wasn’t originally going to be shipped romantically with any Umas (hence Yamato’s existence), but then I realized she looks cute with Gold Ship and it went downhill from there. Her concept is a kansai-ben because I once saw a video with Golshi captioned with Kansai-ben, and her American half is just to make her feel unique and an excuse to make her knew English.
Originally, she wore a hat that alludes to Imanami-san, Golshi’s irl caretaker, but this is now often removed.
Her father, Steven Averill Adler is one of the most prominent figure in the 'underworld' of America. Steven married a Kansai woman he met in an Uma Musume race they watched together in Japan, Sakurada Kanako, and had two children; Nanaca and Nanaca's little brother who's going to be his successor, Shugo. Nanaca used to live in America with her complete family, but an incident when Nanaca was around 13 years old had caused Kanako and Nanaca to move to Osaka, Japan to protect their wellbeing. Back when she's in America, she befriend Grass Wonder who studied ikebana under her mother, and needless to explain, the two of them reunited in Tracen Academy. Due to them being childhood friends, Grass could've been quite protective of her, especially against Golshi who's kind of dragging Nanaca everywhere she liked.
She used to speak Kansai-ben, though she tries to be professional by not using it as much once she's in Tokyo.
Was in the track and field club in junior high and high school, but quit due to an injury and bullying from her seniors in her all-girls high school, who were envious of her and made rumors of her and her Uma Musume friend, Umino Spectacle (not based on any horses), who is now separated from Nanaca. Umino, the girl who didn't pass Tracen's test and decided to go to a normal school, once defended Nanaca and accidentally hurt the bully's ringleader quite badly, and then Umino got expelled from the school with criminal record, moving far away from her. Unknown to Nanaca, her friend Umi-chan had now achieved her dream of opening a ramen shop, and had met Golshi back in her childhood.
